Sec One Orientation

Watched Eragon on 23rd Dec... What made it so special is that those who came along were not just ordinary friends =) Go figure out yourself ;p

SOO '07 (27-29 Dec '06) was such a success and will always be! My job is to be a buddy to Group 4 together with my co-buddy Jonathan. First day, I brought 1 box of Strepsil. Well, I'm quite disappointed in my group, quite anti-social and to be straightforward sucky... Of course, cannot tell them so direct -.- It's their first day anyway. While they listen to some talks, we were badly screwed. And i mean BADLY!! It was weird. They don't seem to realise our downcasted faces and went on moving like ghosts drifting aimlessly around the school. Afternoon, some talks by seniors and a very inspiring talk by 母后, they seem to wake up a bit. Evening, got screwed further but it was really so weird. Somehow, some of the seniors got so emotional that we were stunned. That day, I thought I went crazy. I went to NTUC, got the best honey they have and bought home a few more boxes of strepsils. The box I had that day was used up almost before lunch was over.

2nd day..
EP3 orientation... It was so disappointing when some OT members came and tell us our group was hopeless. I got no choice but to agree, cause it's really hopeless. It was so weird that they perform well only under pressure from other groups. After the cross country try outs, we had teabreak. Then, 母后 wanted us to do something crazy @_@. "S"he wanted us to cheer in female toilet. Kind of crazy. We went to poolside and too bad, no teachers to help us check out if the female toilet was empty, lol! Not that teachers approve of that... But, they don't disapprove either ;p So we went the male toilet instead. The OS and some OT members happen to be there. At first, we joined in, then allowed them to choose their own leader and left them to cheer by themselves. Too bad no locks to the toilets ;p Either way, we threatened to lock them inside till we are satisfied. No one was confident of the leader to be honest, till they were so loud that I could hear them from the carpark =.= For the first time, I was proud of my group ;p Some more orientations. Unlike other groups, we never have debriefs. Not throughout the entire course of the 3 days. 2 boxes of strepsils proved insufficient -.- and the honey was half gone! After 2 days of intense of shouting, I no longer have any voice. Went for dinner till 11+.. Suddenly remembered that there is no more strepsils back at home! At 12am, went to 7 eleven and bought 10 packets of Woods lozenges.. I left the shop with the cashier staring at me like I just came out of IMH -.-

3rd day...
I won't call it the 3rd day, but the last day. Well, 1 more day and it'll be true. Suddenly, the group became so hyped up. We told them of the cheers competition and they said they know. With Group 3 and their jeering, our group took the tables from the back of the class, lie them up, jump onto them and rock the entire place. I never knew they were so daring, and I knew it will turn out to be a good day. First the specialty event. No one was really interested in it, and so ain't I -.- At the 4th station, some groups were already at their last. Lagging by 2 stations!! We decided to abandon this event and practise for the cheers competition. It didn't look so prospective, the group lacked confidence in their leader but what so assuring was that those who didn't open their mouth started mumbling the cheers. We planned what to do and told them that buddies are not allowed on stage -.- But that was not so. We decided that we would be the last group to perform. When Group 6 went up on stage and got a perfect score, everyone was demoralised. When the 2nd last group went up, Alfred came and told us that if we can do a perfect Rock You and get everyone to cheer with us, then our group will stand a good chance to emerge as champions. No one thought it was possible. The first 2 cheers were kind of screwed but they were really great. The last cheer, Rock You, which the group just learned and was unconfident of brough much anxiety. Then what came by a surprise was... The leader suddenly roared and asked for everyone to stand up. No one stood at first. Then the entire group shouted for the hall to stand. Then the OS suddenly ran up on stage and asked for all buddies to squeeze. The hand sign was given, everyone stood up. The leader gave the timing and instantly, the hall burst into life. When it ended with a 3 cheers, no flags were raised yet. The group started chanting for more points! At first, no flags, and all of a sudden all the flags were raised! Now there are 3 teams with perfect score. We went on to a tie breaker. The OT will now be the judges. Supposedly, 5 flags is the full score. Group 16 got 3 flags and followed by us. This time buddies were allowed to lead. We gave our best shot with Shan Ge and earned 5 flags for our effort! Our group was shouting for joy and thought we had grabbed the Champion titles securely in our hands. Then it was Group 6's turn. As they were cheering, a few more OT members joined in the judging. They got themselves 6 flags and in turn became the champions. It was greeted with a little jeering at first, then there was an announcement that the team had made a mistake and the full score is 6 flags. There was much murmurings and our group was protesting in disgust. In the end, we manage to convince the group that we should lose with grace. We did a 3 cheers for Group 6 but the disappointment and disgust lingers there. There was a mass cheering session followed by, eh something that isn't suppose to be posted ;p We brought our group to poolside for lunch, and finally, I found the bond building among the group. The quiet ones started talking and soon, our group became so lively that the poolside restaurant was bustling with life by our conversations. Much disappointment can be seen during class allocation since they would be separated soon. I really hope that they will always remember that a few days back, a few months back, a few years back, there was such an orientation and that Group 4 has evolved from the most disappointing group, which group 3 called as lousy, to the most bonded the group, the group which will be able to go around with their heads held high...

For the friendship that can end, has never been real...
